The Adelaide Steamship Co. has bought 24.3 per cent of Victorian timber company, VIA Ltd., and yesterday launched a takeover bid for the remainder. It is bidding $1.20 a share, which values the sawmiller, timber supplier and engineer at $1.6 million.
